Questions to Ask Your Provider
You belong in this conversation. Bringing questions to your visits isn't being difficult — it's being informed. Feel free to jot down a few of these before your next appointment.
Before you go
Write down what you'd like to talk about, and don't be afraid to bring a friend or family member. It's okay to ask your provider to slow down or to explain something a second time.
During the visit
If something doesn't make sense, ask. If you feel unheard, it's okay to say that too. A good provider will welcome your questions.
Grace's Thoughts
Advocating for yourself is one of the most tender, powerful things you can do on this journey. You deserve to understand your own care.
Questions you may consider asking
- What is this medication or plan meant to help with?
- What should I expect in the first few weeks?
- What side effects should I watch for, and when should I call you?
- Are there lifestyle changes that would support this?
- How will we know it's working?
- How often will we check in?
- What are my options if this doesn't feel right for me?
